Here’s a quick beginner-friendly pattern for that puffy 3D red heart π
This makes a ∼2 inch heart using worsted weight yarn and a 3.5mm hook.
Materials
Red worsted weight yarn / 4-ply cotton
3.5mm crochet hook
Stuffing / fiberfill
Yarn needle
Stitch marker
Abbreviations
mr = magic ring
sc = single crochet
inc = increase, 2 sc in same stitch
dec = decrease, sc 2 together
sl st = slip stitch
Pattern - Make 2 humps first
Hump 1:
Rnd 1: 6 sc in mr
Rnd 2: inc in each st around
Rnd 3: sc, inc repeat 6x
Rnd 4-5: sc around
Fasten off.
Hump 2:
Repeat Rnd 1-5 but don’t fasten off.
Joining + Body:
Rnd 6: sc in next 3 sts of Hump 2, join to Hump 1 with sc in any st, sc 17 around Hump 1, skip 3 sts on Hump 2, sc 15 around Hump 2
Rnd 7: sc around
Rnd 8: 4 sc, dec repeat 6x
Rnd 9: 3 sc, dec repeat 6x
Rnd 10: 2 sc, dec repeat 6x
Start stuffing firmly.
Rnd 11: sc, dec repeat 6x
Rnd 12: dec 6x
Fasten off, leave long tail. Weave through last 6 sts and pull tight to close. Use tail to shape the heart dip between humps if needed.
Tips to make it puffier like the picture:
Use cotton yarn — it holds shape better than acrylic
Stuff it really firm before Rnd 11
For a smoother finish, use invisible decreases
