Here’s a simple tiny granny square pattern using black and gray. This makes a 3-round square about 2.5 inches across with worsted weight yarn and a 5mm hook.

Materials
Worsted weight yarn: Color A = Black, Color B = Gray
Scissors, yarn needle
Stitches used
ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
sp = space
Pattern
Round 1: Color A - Gray
Make a magic ring, or ch 4 and sl st to first ch to form a ring.
Ch 3. This counts as first dc.
Work 2 dc into ring, ch 2. Repeat 3 dc, ch 2 3 more times into ring.
Sl st to top of starting ch 3 to join. You should have 4 groups of 3 dc with ch-2 corners. Fasten off.
Round 2: Color B - Black
Join Color B in any ch-2 corner sp. Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp. This is your first corner.
Ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp. Repeat from * to * 2 more times.
Ch 1, sl st to top of starting ch 3. Fasten off.
Round 3: Color A - Gray
Join Color A in any ch-2 corner sp. Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp.
Ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in corner sp. Repeat from * to * 2 more times.
Ch 1, 3 dc in last ch-1 sp, ch 1, sl st to top of starting ch 3. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Tips
Want it tinier? Stop after Round 2 and use sport weight yarn + 3.5mm hook.
For a cleaner color change, finish the sl st join with the new color.
Block it lightly so the corners are crisp.
